In the days following the sudden loss of my best friend Addison (Addie) a rescue dog to previously undiagnosed cancer I began the slow process of searching for my next special needs rescue.
I returned to the internet where I had found Addison ten years earlier.
I realized that despite the hundreds of thousands of animal rescue volunteers, groups, networks, shelters, foster homes, advocacy groups and animal lovers willing to adopt a pet rather than purchase one from a retail store, that domestic animal abuse had not gotten better, it had gotten worse!
Addie’s passing was a “Marker” in my life, and as a single man with children it forced me to answer questions that had been quietly haunting me for several years but were much easier to ignore than face head on.
Questions like what legacy will I leave behind? How long can I possibly ignore the constant coincidences showing me where could make a difference? And given the unique access I had to the talent, skill, technology and relationships that have allowed me to prosper in business, could I possibly wait even one more day to use those resources for a higher good.
Like you if you have read this far I’m an animal lover and believe that cruelty to helpless animals is it’s own special brand of evil and a a crime against nature.
By adopting Addison, and my latest special needs rescue “Abigail” I had made a huge difference in their lives if not saving their life and of course it made me feel good.
One morning lying in bed I realized that like almost everyone I researched in the animal rescue community all I had really done was “Thrown A Single Starfish Back In The Water” when what was needed was to drain the ocean and the way to do it became instantly clear…
But like every crazy idea I’ve ever had, to make it a reality I needed to make a phone call first!
Todd:
When I got the call I was not surprised, it was Scott on the phone with yet another crazy idea, but this time it was different, it wasn’t about making money.
For over ten years Scott and I have been working together building brands, products, and software tools and selling them online.
We have specialized in building viral marketing tools for online entrepreneurs.
My background was as a physical therapist, but early in my career I got the bug to start my own business and became an entrepreneur.
I joined a direct marketing company and unlike the majority of the people in that organization I decided to use automation and the internet to leverage my time and as a result became one of the top reps in the company.
I eventually began selling my automation tools to other reps in that company and found that I loved developing software products and writing code.
Scott and I met and started working on a few specific projects here and there and then eventually became business partners.
It seems like most of what we build together starts with a bizarre phone call from Scott with what seems at the time like a crazy idea, like the time Scott called said he wanted me to code a system for people to come to a website, download a free book, then he wanted to pay those people 50 cents for every person they referred to the site to get the free book!
Yeah, I know,crazy?
I told him that I could code it but that I thought it was a stupid idea and a quick way to go broke.
Because of our experience with viral marketing 3 weeks later over 35,000 people had downloaded the book, joined our list, and a few weeks after that we launched a software product to that new list that went on to gross over two million dollars.
Since then our crazy ideas have resulted in breakthrough one of a kind technologies and products based around viral marketing and using the power of the internet to reach hundreds of thousand of prospects and customers.
As an animal lover myself, it didn’t take long for Scott to talk me in to his latest crazy idea and I immediately recognized how we could re-combine technologies that we had already developed in to something new, and create a breakthrough system to dramatically change animal rescue forever!
Join us in the Paw Army, and lets drain the ocean together!
